OPEN CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS - GoNorth

12th January 2013

Applications Open 1st February 2013

We are looking for your films!

This year at goNORTH we are going to be screening a full programme of curated features, which will encompass content from our production partners from across the UK, Europe and America. To complement this, we will be screening your shorts from this call for submissions alongside these features. In addition, to maximise audience exposure, we’ll be screening before workshops and training sessions.

There are two categories you can submit your film to: WIDE OPEN or EXTREME category. The first has no thematic or genre criteria, it’s wide open to any kind of short film and is open to anyone to enter a film. The extreme category is where we want to see films made about any kind of extreme sport – snowboarding, skiing, surfing, climbing, mountain biking, kite surfing, windsurfing, skydiving, anything that involves a certain amount of danger, specialist equipment, speed or height challenges!

Most importantly, for both categories, we want engaging narrative and a structured piece of work that has good storytelling and strong production values. Installations and conceptual films are not suitable, films from the more standard genres of broadcast such as drama, documentary, comedy and entertainment is what we are looking for!

Submissions for this year’s goNORTH will also be considered for our goNORTH Festival Tour.

Here’s what we’re looking for in both categories:

Completed films up to 20 minutes (we will consider longer films in the Extreme Category only).
Viewing copy via a link to uploaded film on Vimeo, Youtube or similar.
Good storytelling and engaging content.
Confirmation that you, as the person submitting the film, have full authorisation to grant goNORTH permission to screen the film.
Confirmation that all third party copyright within the film is cleared for purpose. (ie music, stills, video, literary extracts, artwork etc)
A publicity photograph that represents the film well.
Please note, films with excessive bad language or gratuititous or sexual imagery will not be considered.

You will be able to submit your film at GoNorth, online, once submissions are open on the 1st February 2013.
