8th November 2012

The Aberdeen Centre for Environmental Sustainability (ACES): Artists in residence project

‘Environmental Conflicts’

With support from Creative Futures, The Aberdeen Centre for Environmental Sustainability (ACES) based at The University of Aberdeen, is hosting residencies for up to six creative practitioners to work with academics to explore issues arising from ‘Environmental Conflicts’.

These residencies offer an exciting opportunity to work with experts in the fields of environmental sustainability, food security, conservation and conflict resolution.

Applications are invited from interested practitioners in the following fields:

Drawing, painting, sculpture, music, poetry and writing, film making and animation.

Timescale

The first session will be in early 2013 and the residency will run over several months.

During that time the artists will commit to sixteen days contact time where all parties will meet to explore ‘Environmental Conflicts’. In addition there will be further time spent in smaller groups and to develop responses to the theme of the residency.

The residencies will culminate in an exhibition and performance and with presentations from the academics.

Eligibility:

Artists who were born in Scotland or who are living and working in Scotland and are able to commit to the contact days.

Artists need not have any prior experience in working on environmental issues.

Fee:

£4700 plus expenses.
