Northern Nashville Caithness Country Music Festival 2006
Yes the Northern Nashville Country Music are already well down the preparation for their annual country music festival for 2006.  The country festival in 2006 runs over three days 14 - 16 April at the indoor Riding Centre, Halkirk.

It seems like ages since Tich Frier's visit on the 12th of August, and a grand night of song and laughter it was too! It was satisfying to find the wee man on great form and in good health, following his skirmish with the Big C.   But now, for your delectation: "COCKERSDALE" SATURDAY, 24TH SEPTEMBER 8:00 PM PENTLAND HOTEL,THURSO, SUPPORTED BY "CLAPSHOT" This is a night not to be missed, not necessarily because Clapshot are performing outside their usual haunt of the Commercial Bar, Thurso, but because we have one of England's top harmony groups making a rare appearance in Scotland.

Drawn from the Scottish Arts Council Bequest Collection, this exhibition shows the variety of techniques and styles that some of the country's most influential artists have employed.   You can see works by Ken Currie, John Bellany, Patricia Douthwaite and Victoria Crowe, among others.

Thurso Live Music Association Season Of Concerts 2005 - 2006
If you enjoy classical music but do not have the chance to get to live performances you can catch a few by joining Thurso Live Music Association.   The annual membership for the coming year is £40 and for that you get eight concerts making bargain price of only £5 per concert.

Wick Pipe Band Week - Video Available
For folk who missed the Wick Pipe Band Festival recently a video is now available of all of the parades.   M & M Video have produced a compilation of all of the events from the week where several pipe bands took part individually and as a massed band at the Market Square, Wick and at the riverside.

PULSE Highland Talent Trawl
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival has announced 'Pulse' - a talent trawl for emerging bands and soloists throughout the Highlands, in association with Mad Hatters at Hootannany's and HUBL, the web site for Highland musicians.   A series of selection events will be around the Highlands - Inverness, Dingwall, Nairn, Alness, Thurso, Skye and Oban, culminating in a final selection in Mad Hatter's, Inverness in July.

Art Competition For Local Artists
LS Lowry painted scenes of Wick in the 1930's, now the Highland Council would like local artists to do the same in 2005, using the famous artist's paintings as inspiration.   The work can be in any medium, but must include both people and places, using the setting of Lower Puleneytown, Wick.
